Whether you are new to yoga or you are a seasoned practitioner, this class will teach you the foundational principles and techniques you’ll need to ensure a safe and holistic yoga practice. We explore the benefits of: standing, balancing, and seated poses; back and forward bends; twists; and meditation. You will be invited to discover ways to modify your practice to suit your individual requirements, while cultivating a strong foundation for your yoga journey.

BIKRAM YOGA EXPRESS

The 26 Basics: The Original Hot Yoga. Bikram Yoga is a 26 posture basics series practiced in a hot room. It comes from an 84 posture advanced series. The series is the same sequence every class so the student can see the improvement as well as continue to understand and deepen the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. The heat helps circulation as well as detoxing the body through sweat. The heat softens the fascia and loosens the muscles. This is a strength series though, so expect to work hard. The series focuses on the foundation: lower body, the spine, flexibility and strength. Please dress lightly, come hydrated and bring a towel. Beginner's welcome. Bikram Express is a 60 minute class, practicing the postures once and the 90 min is the original class, practicing each posture twice.

YIN YOGA

This practice is designed to release tension in the body and mind by applying long, deep and passive postures. Yin yoga targets the body’s deep connective tissue (fascia) including, ligaments, tendons, bones and joints. The aim of Yin class is to increase overall health and flexibility by maintaining or increasing joint range of motion, releasing tension, improving circulation and repairing damaged fascia. You are encouraged to turn your attention inward and turn your practice into a moving meditation. It is the perfect and essential balance to our very active lifestyles (Yang) and serves to help re-balance the body’s energy and calm the mind. It is accessible to anyone of any age regardless of yoga experience.
